ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a complex brain disorder that impacts approximately 11% of children and almost 5% of adults. ADHD is a developmental disorder that affects the executive processes of the brain. ADHD individuals struggle with impulse control, attention, and organization.

How common is ADHD?

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, ADHD affects 3 to 5% of preschool and school-age children. As a result, in a class of 25 to 30 students, it is expected that at least one will have this illness. ADHD usually starts in infancy, although it can linger until maturity.

What causes ADHD?

There appears to be a wide range of factors, including heredity and environmental factors. Gender, family history, prenatal hazards, environmental pollutants, and anatomical distinctions in the brain appear to be implicated.

How is ADHD Diagnosed?

Your doctor will look for any ADHD symptoms you or your kid have displayed in the last six months. In addition, they will perform a physical check and evaluate your medical history to rule out any other medical or psychological issues that might be causing your symptoms.
